As we start walking along with women in the Gospels, have you had a chance to read the Prologue? The author begins by bringing us into a painful time of her life. I’ve had those times I’m sure you have too. I also remember thinking in those times that irregardless of how I was feeling, God was still God and he was still good. Somehow for a while it’s so easy to lose sight of that, isn’t it? Yet, down deep in our soul, we know that He’s still there and our faith in Him will grow - if we allow Him to work.
Woundedness is a hard place to be. I remember finally having enough courage to ask God, “Where were you when ______________ ?” (What’s in your blank?) Through his quiet peaceful presence, God let me know that he was right there with me. When I hurt, he hurt and being in that hurt with him is when healing comes.
On page xviii, the author says, “intimacy with Jesus calls out the very best of who we can be as women.” My sisters, as we read this book together, may we ask the Holy Spirit to help us see who He says we are.
